I see her as more of the scrawny old lady type, but the cat thing seems logical. She's probably a chain smoker, too. It helps calm her nerves. They just carefully edit it out of the series.

Yep, I figure she and Rarity can plow through a pack of Virginia Slims in less than two hours.

Fluttershy needed to toughen up those vocal chords one way or another.

Be it through chain smoking or yelling at her grand-ponies for arguing with the cats again.

Heh. I've already heard her described as having a "smoky, sexy voice" several times. It's high-pitched and gentle, but there's a bit of a Lucille Ball rasp to it. That's partly what made me say what I did -- that and her nervousness.

The only thing I can't figure out is, how does a non-unicorn manage a lighter? Maybe pegasi can use their wings for that, but I reckon Earth ponies are just shit out of luck.

Being a unicorn, Rarity doesn't have that problem. Even if she did, I'm sure Spike would be more than happy to be her cigarette lighter.
